Sidewalk Film Festival
Day 2
The Collins sisters chose fashionable yet functional attire to beat the heat at yesterdays festival. Kristy, sister on the left, chose shorts from Target, top from JC Penny and shoes from Nordstrom Rack. Amir, sister on the right, prefers to wait for Kristy to get tired of her clothes and then she adds the gifted items to her closet. Her top is from Rainbow, jewelry is from the thrift store and all other items came from Kristy's closet. We hope to see you two at more events in the future.
Kellie Clark decided to curb her hunger with a hotdog by local vendor, Ferocious Dogs. While waiting for her order I snagged this picture of her fun get up. Her t-shirt is from local Birmingham designer and screen printers Yellow Hammer Creative. Yellow Hammer Creative had a pop up shop at Sidewalk Central, but their actual store is located in Avondale at 3917 2nd Avenue South. A few other items from her day 2 attire include a hat from Urban Outfitters, shoes by Sam Edelman and purse from Zoe's Consignment Shop.
Alex McFry and Megan Wise were walking through Sidewalk Central when I noticed her fun dress from a mile away. Alex was wearing American Eagle and they both had matching converse shoes. However, the dress is the reason I decided to stop them. After talking she informed me that since she was missing the Season 8 premiere of Dr. Who, it seemed fitting to wear her Dr. Who dress. They seemed to be rushing to see a movie so I didn't question this too much. After a bit of research I found out that the famous BBC show has their own website selling various things, and of course clothing was one of the things they sold.
Sidewalk Sweet 16 Birthday Party
This year celebrates the Sidewalk Film Festivals sixteenth birthday. The evening event took place at the historic Vulcan Park. The location was the perfect spot to celebrate one of the best events that takes place every year in Birmingham. Since the opening night movie was about a senior class and the party was celebrating the festivals teenage years it seemed fitting that we crown a best dressed King and Queen. Here were our chosen two and others that tickled our fancy.
We knew the second Lily Li arrived in her matching top and shorts, by Alice+Olivia, that she was our Queen. However, it wasn't until after she was crowned that we found out she was also a costume designer and works on many Birmingham films. WE LOVE HER!!
Our initial King of the night was Matthew Yarborough, left, but he had already left the event before the crowing took place. In a last minute decision we chose Chris Izor, right, whose curly locks were the perfect match for our crown.
Mathew's H&M printed pants were the reason we decided to give him the crown. He chose to pair them with a white top by Japanese brand Uniqlo, belt by Zara and shoes from Urban Outfitters. Chris was looking good in a shirt from Express, jeans by Levi's and gray Clark high tops.
Caroline Dillard is on the Junior Sidwalk Board and also works at local boutique Soca in Homewood. Her dress was by love stitch, a new hot brand that can be found at Soca. All of her other items came from Soca as well.
Amber doesn't mind doing a little shopping online. Her dress and shoes both came from online sites we frequent as well. Her dress came from hautelook.com and her shoes from shoedazzle.com. She chose to accessorize her look with a purse from local boutique Charm and jewelry by Betsey Johnson.
Check back tomorrow for more of our favorite looks from Sidewalks birthday party and from Day 3.
